Four unidentified armed suspects shot and killed a businessman on Wednesday night, at Sitio Bebang in Barangay General Luna, Toboso, Negros Occidental.
Police investigations showed that the 37-year-old victim was waylaid and shot several times by the four armed men, an incident witnessed by his 10-year-old daughter.
The victim, who succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries, died on the spot, according to the Toboso police.
After killing the victim, the armed men entered the house of the victim, and took the cellular phones of the victim’s wife and daughter.
The armed suspects fled towards the mountainous area of the barangay.
The Toboso police is still verifying claims that the armed suspects are members of the New People’s Army, as they apparently accused the victim of being a military informant.
Recovered by the police from the scene of the incident were four empty shells of 5.56mm and 9mm firearms.*
