
As Mayor Raymund Tongson celebrated his 51st birthday on October 20, two-term father of the “Land of Gratitude” dedicated his birth month in service to his fellow Himamaylanons, a press release from Himamaylan PIO said.
For his birthday wish this year, Mayor Tongson hopes that all Himamaylanons receive more blessings, stay safe and healthy, and become more productive citizens of the southern Negros city and the country.
“I am very blessed to have become a servant leader of Himamaylan,” said Mayor Tongson. “I also wish for more strength and competence to serve my beloved city and Himamaylanons.”
This October, a total 890 senior citizens from 19 barangays received cakes and groceries courtesy of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) earlier this month, which is also part of the Elderly Filipino Week celebration.
The CSWDO and CMO also ensured that the elderly that need mobility aids were provided with new ones.
Meanwhile, centenarian Aurora Cuevas of Brgy. 4 Poblacion, who celebrated her 100th birthday in September, is set to receive a total of P300,000 from the LGU, regional and national government.
The Himamaylan LGU, through the CSWDO, awarded P100,000 to Cuevas last week.
The city government also awarded P20,000 each to nonagenarians Renato Mapus, Cholita Cruz kag Olympia Sausa. They also received cakes and groceries.
In preparation for the MRT Cheerdance Competition, 14 schools from the city joined the two-day MRT Cheerdance Camp 2024.
Now in its second year, the MRT Cheerdance Camp held at the Brgy. 4 Covered Court equipped young cheerdancers with the basic knowledge in cleanly executing dance elements as well as the correct and safe way to do individual and group stunts.
This month, the city mayor also held his routine ocular visits to construction of infrastructure in the city.
Among the sites visited were the ongoing construction of the Brgy. To-oy People’s Hall and the road concreting project in Brgy. 2 Poblacion.
Tongson also met with Prime Water, barangay officials, and concerned citizens for a consultative meeting to improve the water services in the city.
In the meeting, Tongson together with the stakeholders discussed plans to tap into more water resources to ensure that the business and households have enough supply during dry months.
The submission of requirements for renewed and new city scholars was also held at the city hall.
The city government, through the City Mayor’s Office, offers educational assistance to scholars enrolled in both public and private high schools and senior high schools.
The city also caters to college students and Himamaylanons pursuing graduate studies.
Tongson said he is elated and thankful for all the birthday greetings and well wishes, along with the birthday cakes he received.*
