Mayor Raymund Tongson, who is currently studying Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Governance from the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos, was recently named as Outstanding Thesis and Best Oral Presenter during his defense this week, according to a press release from Himamaylan PIO.
Under the Business, Technology, Health and Wellness category, Tongson together with Dr. Merlita Caelian were declared Outstanding Thesis and Best Oral Presenter for their study “Economic and Social Benefits and Challenges in the Implementation of Infrastructure Projects in a Component City in Negros Occidental.”
The city mayor was also named Best Oral Presenter in the 2nd International Conference for Higher Education Research of the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research Inc. last April.
“I pursued this thesis because I wanted to promote data-driven programs and projects in the City of Himamaylan,” he said.
Tongson said he is looking forward to using his thesis to come up with science-and-needs-based solutions in the city.
“I hope this will also inspire more professional Himamaylanons to use our city as subjects in their studies as their findings will help us improve our services should they choose to share the fruits of their hard work with us,” he added.*
