Police units arrested the region’s sixth most wanted person, facing statutory rape charges, during an intelligence-driven manhunt operation in Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Calamba, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, yesterday.
Authorities identified the suspect by the alias ‘Al,’ a 37-year-old carpenter and resident of Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
The suspect stands accused of sexually abusing a minor relative who was placed under his care.
The 4th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion led the operation in coordination with the Guihulngan City Police Station, Bayawan City Police Station, and the Regional Intelligence Unit of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).
Operatives served the arrest warrant for statutory rape, with no bail recommended.
Following his arrest, authorities processed the suspect at the Guihulngan City Police Station before transferring custody to the Bayawan City Police Station for legal disposition.
WEEKEND OPERATIONS
Police tracker teams arrested a top wanted criminal and another suspect in separate manhunt operations across Negros Occidental on Sunday afternoon, May 31.
At around 3:14 p.m., operatives from the La Carlota Component City Police Station apprehended a 32-year-old suspect known by the alias ‘Tugol,’ at Bliss Street, Barangay I Poblacion in La Carlota City.
Authorities listed the suspect as a most wanted person facing charges for robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons.
The Regional Trial Court Branch 74 in La Carlota City issued his arrest warrant on May 21, with bail set at P100,000.
Earlier, at around 3:00 p.m., a separate operation took place in Ilog town, where operatives of the Ilog Municipal Police Station arrested a 30-year-old resident of Barangay Manalad known by the alias ‘Rey.’
The team served a warrant for theft issued on September 12, 2024, by the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 112 in Muntinlupa City. The court recommended his bail at P6,000.
Both tracker teams conducted the arrests under Manhunt Charlie operations.
The two individuals remain under custody of their respective police stations for proper legal disposition.*
