Top RA 9003-compliant gov’t offices lauded

The Negros Occidental Scholarship Program Division was named champion of the 2022 Local Search for the Best Office/Hospital Compliant with RA 9003 (Year 1), by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

PEMO evaluated the 35 Capitol department offices and nine provincial government-run hospitals for their compliance with RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and identified the top 12 winners.

The Provincial Information Office (PIO) Division bagged first place; Valladolid District Hospital, second place, and Provincial Assessor’s Office, third place, a press release from the Capitol said.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz and Provincial Environment Management Head, Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, the Provincial Environment Management Office head, yesterday led the awarding ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall, in Bacolod City.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson lauded the SWM programs and initiatives of the Capitol offices and hospitals that contribute to sustainable environmental management and conservation under the Abanse Negrense Priority Development Program of the province.

The judges for the Top 12 finalists were Josephine Maguad, Engr. Victor Thomas Ureta and Vinci Raymundo, all of DENR – EMB Region 6.

Also present at the awarding ceremony were PEMO Supervising EMS Jose Aldwin Legaspi, PEMO SWM Head, Dr. Eriberto Madalag and staff, Sheila Joan Bautista, Ria Dada and Rodolfo Genito Sapalo, Jr., who also conducted the initial judging of the offices and hospitals.

Other winners who received consolation prizes were the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Food Terminal Market of Negros Occidental, Ignacio L. Arroyo, Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Mambukal Resort, Office of the Provincial Administrator, Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Provincial General Services Office, Provincial Human Resource Management Office.

The champion received P50,000 cash; P30,000 for first place; P20,000 for second place; P10,000 for third place; and consolation prizes of P5,000 each for the rest of the top 12 finalists.

Special awards were also given to the top 12 winners.

Arroyo, Sr. Memorial District Hospital; Best in SWM Question and Answer – PIO, NOSP, PHRMO; Best in Information and Education Campaign – NOSP, PIO, PHRMO; High Level of Awareness on RA 9003 – PIO, PHRMO; Best in SWM Presentation – PIO, Valladolid District Hospital;

Best Solid Waste Management Corner – NOSP, Mambukal Resort, Provincial Assessor’s Office; Best in Solid Waste Management Innovations – NOSP, Mambukal Resort; Best Kapitolyo Solid Waste Management Educator (KaSE) – Valladolid District Hospital, NOSP, Provincial Treasurer’s Office; Best in Team Effort – Valladolid District Hospital, NOSP, Mambukal Resort; Most Environment-Friendly Hospital – Valladolid District Hospital;

Best SWM Recording System – Valladolid District Hospital, Food Terminal Market of Negros Occ.; Most Environment-Friendly Office – General Services Office; and Best in Recyclable Activities – Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Office of the Provincial Administrator.*
