The Negros Occidental Provincial Government and the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) announced in a press release the line-up of sports activities for the weekend of October 22-23.
As the city of Bacolod gears up for the MassKara Festival highlights, the PSO also gears up for its upcoming tournaments.
First on the list of activities this Saturday is the District Festival 3X3 Basketball Tournaments (Districts III and IV eliminations).
The city of Silay is the host venue for the Third District playoffs, and ballgames start 8 a.m.
District IV eliminations will be held in the municipality of Pulupandan, where games will start at 1 p.m. Apart from basketball, the Governor’s Cup Football provincial championship north, south, and central Negros Districts qualifying is set to continue on Saturday and Sunday.
The north Negros matches will be held in Sagay City, while the south and central districts are scheduled in Bago City. All football competitions will start at 8 a.m.
The upcoming weekend sporting events are part of the Abanse Negrense Sports Programs, initiated by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, and aimed at continuously promoting grassroots sport development programs among the Negrense youth and LGUs in the province.
Lacson and PSO head Anthony Carlo Agustin believe that sports could be an effective tool to curb the wrong practices and bad associations among the youth. They hope these sports activities could help and assist the Negrense youth to take a better course in life, the PSO press release concluded.*
