Four hundred traffic enforcers in Bacolod City will undergo surveillance testing tomorrow and Saturday to ensure that they are free from the coronavirus disease 2019.
Executive assistant Ernie Pineda, who heads the city’s Quick Reaction Team, said the testing will be conducted at the Bacolod Arts and Youth Center.
Aside from the traffic enforcers, personnel of the Public Order Safety Office and more policemen will also undergo the testing since it is mandatory, Pineda said.
More riders from door-to-door delivery services are also expected to participate in the testing, he added.
Only two riders and two policemen tested positive for Covid-19 out of 548 individuals who underwent surveillance testing last week, that is about 0.6 percent positivity rate.
Pineda said those who tested positive will be extracted from their homes and their houses will be sealed-off.
Meanwhile, the Quick Reaction Team and the City Emergency Operation Center are yet to finalize the testing for public utility drivers.
Federation of Bacolod Drivers Associations president Elizabeth Katalbas and United Negros Drivers Operators Center secretary general Diego Malacad both said they have not been informed of the planned testing.
In a text message to the DAILY STAR, the two transport group leaders said they will meet regarding the matter.*
