Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya has announced a localized crackdown on illegal dumping following the circulation of video evidence showing waste being discarded into the city’s waterways.

The footage, which was submitted to the Mayor’s office, documented incidents at Sulom Creek in Barangay Mandalagan and within the Reclamation Area.

The city government coordinated an immediate cleanup drive and initiated an investigation into the identities of those involved.

Gasataya expressed concern for the workers tasked with manually clearing debris from the creeks, particularly after the city had already conducted prior clearing operations in those same areas.

Enforcement measures are currently underway.

The city government has conducted a conference with a nearby educational institution to assist in identifying a person seen in one of the videos.

He said that the Land Transportation Office has committed to issuing a Show Cause Order to the owner of a vehicle identified in a separate video at the Reclamation Area.

Gasataya confirmed that the city will continue to track the individuals responsible to ensure they face the appropriate legal consequences for their actions.*
