A 56-year-old truck driver was riddled with bullets, allegedly by a riding in tandem, in broad daylight yesterday while he was in a sugarcane farm at Hacienda Siocon, Barangay Lopez Jaena, in the town of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified as alias “Ernesto,” married, and a resident of Purok Madre de Cacao, Barangay Sta. Cruz in the town.
Investigation revealed that the victim was shot by unidentified suspects, using an unknown caliber of firearm. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to different parts of his body and was immediately brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
Unfortunately, due to the blood loss and the severity of his wounds, the victim did not survive and lost his life at the hospital, Murcia Municipal Police Station Commander PCapt. Honey Labaro said.
Responding personnel from Murcia Municipal Police Station conducted an on-site investigation and are presently conducting a hot pursuit operation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspect.
Labaro added that the whereabouts and the motive of the suspects were still undetermined as the investigation is still underway.
The cadaver of the victim will undergo post mortem examination.*
