A motorist heading home died after a fatal road crash on Sunday at Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, Barangay Efegenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim, identified only as alias Rex, 35, a resident of Barangay Cabatangan in the same city, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that the victim was traveling from Bacolod City towards his home as an Isuzu Giga truck, driven by alias Jet, 52, of Barangay Area 6, Cabuayao, Novaliches, Quezon City, was also heading in the same direction.
Upon reaching the site of the incident, the truck reportedly lost control and hit the rear portion of the victim’s motorcycle.
As a result, the victim was thrown onto the gutter and fell to the ground. The truck driver failed to brake immediately, causing the vehicle to run over the motorcyclist.
The motorist sustained fatal head injuries and injuries to other parts of his body, leading to his death.
The truck driver was placed in the custody of the Talisay police for proper disposition.*
