TUP Visayas ranks 2nd nationwide in mech eng’g boards

The Technological University of the Philippines–Visayas (TUP Visayas) secured the 2nd spot nationwide in the February 2026 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination among schools with 50 or more examinees and at least 80 percent passing rate.

With 116 out of 131 examinees passing, TUP Visayas achieved an impressive 88.55 percent passing rate, affirming the University’s strong academic foundation and commitment to excellence in engineering education.

This outstanding performance places TUP-Visayas among the country’s top-performing institutions and reflects the dedication of its faculty, students, and academic leadership, the press release said.

TUP–Visayas campus director, Dr. Eric Malo-oy expressed that this milestone is a clear affirmation of the academic rigor, discipline, and quality assurance systems embedded in the University’s engineering programs.

“This accomplishment is not incidental—it is the result of deliberate curriculum alignment, committed faculty mentorship, structured review interventions, and the resilience and determination of our students,” he added.

The recent achievement reflects the strength of TUPV’s framework and the unwavering commitment of the institution in producing competent, ethical, and industry-ready mechanical engineers.

“As we celebrate this success, we remain steadfast in elevating standards, strengthening outcomes, and sustaining excellence in engineering education,” Malo-oy added.*
