
The Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUPV) was recognized by CHED Negros Island Region’s 1st Regional Quality Awards at Luce Auditorium, Silliman University, Dumaguete City, held on May 30.
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) XVIII or NIR, led by Regional Director Dr. Raul Alvarez, Jr., awarded TUPV for Outstanding Board Performance, Top Performing School rank 1 for Chemical and Electronics Technician Licensure Examinations, and rank 2 and 3 for Electronic Engineering Licensure and Master Plumbers Licensure Examinations, respectively.
According to a press release, TUPV was likewise awarded for Excellence in Indigenous Peoples Education in adherence to CHED Memo Order No. 2, series of 2019 or the Integration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Studies/Education into the relevant higher education curricula and its effort to conduct initiatives which contribute to address issues confronting the country’s IP communities, and affirms IP rights to ancestral domains, self-governance and empowerment, social justice, human rights, and the rights to cultural identity.
The quality awards were given in celebration of the 5th National Higher Education Day and the 31st CHED Founding Anniversary, with the theme “Higher Heights in Higher Education.” They were received by TUPV Campus Director, Dr. Eric Malo-oy, with Dr. Patrick Delumpa, assistant director for academic affairs.
Malo-oy recognized the hard work and dedication of the university’s faculty, staff, students, and the alumni’s contribution to the success and future achievements of TUP-Visayas.*
