The Technological University of the Philippines Visayas (TUPV) and RMN-DYHB successfully hosted the two-day bloodletting activity from October 9-10 at the University Gym, dubbed “Dugo Mo Kabuhi Ko” Gearing Towards Hope: A Blood Donation Drive in partnership with Negros First and Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter.
More or less one thousand volunteers participated in the activity, including students, university staff, Brgy. Zone 12 community, Talisay City government employees, Philippine Army, Talisay City Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, BJMP, NWTF and private organizations, among others.
The bloodletting drive aims to address the constant need for regular supply of blood while providing an opportunity for volunteerism and collaboration among members of the community.
About 256 bags were collected from the said activity which was held in collaboration with Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara, JCI Bacolod, NWTF, TUPV CRCY Council, TUPV USG, TUPV Staff Association, TUPV Gender and Development, TUPV Clinic, and TUPV Faculty Association.
Not only is TUPV home of the topnotchers, they are likewise active in the promotion of voluntarism, particularly blood donation activities, in order to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and inculcate public awareness that blood donation is a humanitarian act.*
