Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson has issued an executive order creating a technical working group to pre-evaluate scholarship applications and oversee the implementation of the Himamaylan City government’s various scholarship programs.
Stressing that education is the cornerstone of individual and societal development, and essential for empowering the youth to reach their full potential and contribute to the progress of the community, Tongson,in an executive order, said the Himamaylan City government has taken the initiative to provide series of scholarship programs to alleviate the educational needs of Himamaylanons.
The executive order issued by Tongson states that Himamaylan City scholarship programs are testament to the City Government’s commitment to prioritize education, ensuring that no deserving student is left behind due to financial constraints.
It is imperative to maintain the highest standards in the selection and disbursement of scholarships to ensure that the resources are directed towards those who are genuinely in need, and can make the best use of this educational support, the EO further said.
This assistance not only bolsters their pursuit of a high quality education, but also attends to their multifaceted requirements, encompassing aspects such as academic, culture and arts, sports, and beyond, if needed be, Tongson also said in his EO.
In an effort to expedite the comprehensive, transparent and fair evaluation of the applicants’ qualifications and to facilitate well informed decision making by the Scholarship committee, it is imperative to create a technical working group responsible for screening, assessing, verifying the eligibility of applicants, and oversee the holistic implementation of the City’s scholarship programs, he added.
The Scholarship Committee is composed of Tongson as chairman, Vice Mayor Justin Dominic Gatuslao as vice chairman, with Councilors Maria Antonette Limsiaco, Teresita Gamposilao and Al Tongson as members.*
