• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Policemen yesterday recovered P1,632,000 worth of suspected shabu from two drug suspects they arrested in Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

The joint operations of the Bacolod City Police Office Drug Enforcement Unit and the PNP Maritime Command led to the apprehension of alias Jami and alias Ricky, which yielded about 240 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P1.6 million.

PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, commended the intensified effort of BCPO, the community, and the other law enforcement agencies in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, a buy bust operation on December 5 in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City, led to the arrest of a drug suspect identified by the police as alias Ching, and the recovery of about 25 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P170,000.

On the other hand, the police recovered a fragmentation grenade, a caliber .38 revolver with three ammunition, and two empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol during the implementation of a search warrant in Sitio Tikoy-tikoy, Brgy. Cabacungan, La Castellana, on Dec. 5.

The subject of the search warrant, who was armed with a caliber .45 pistol, however, managed to escape after firing at the policemen while fleeing towards a banana plantation in Sitio Bungyod in the barangay.*
