A vehicular crash which involved four vehicles on November 6 in Brgy. Pandanon Silos, Murcia, Negros Occidental, has claimed the lives of two motorcycle riders, police said.

The two victims were identified as Julieto Cañete, 47, of Brgy. Rizal, who was driving a motorcycle, and his back rider, Jimmy Gadiane, of Brgy. Prosperidad, all in San Carlos City, were both declared dead on arrival at the Murcia Municipal Health Office, a report of the town police said.

According to the police report, the death of Cañete and Gadiane was triggered by a multiple collision of vehicles, involving an Isuzu Elf freezer van, a Toyota Hi-Lux minivan, a Toyota Fortuner and the motorcycle of the two victims.

Murcia police investigations showed that the freezer van driven by Michael Cabugwason accidentally sideswiped the minivan, driven by Orvie Bautista, while both travelling from a north direction.

While swerving to the left side opposite direction, Cabugwason’s driven vehicle hit the Racal 125 motorcycle of the two victims, and the Toyota Fortuner vehicle driven by Kenneth Vincent Gayo with  Casey Pedrosa as passenger, who suffered minor injuries, police said.

Cabugwason is now being detained at the Murcia Police Station custodial facility, while all vehicles in the accident sustained damages.*
