Police Regional Office Negros Island Region operatives arrested two men and seized several unlicensed firearms in separate search warrant operations across Negros Occidental on Tuesday, March 10.
The first operation was conducted at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Kauswagan Village, Barangay Progreso, Binalbagan.
Joint elements of the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Team, and Regional Intelligence Unit arrested a 35-year-old unemployed man identified only as alias Third.
Authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine, and three rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
The raid was the result of a court-issued warrant following surveillance and verification from the Regional Civil Security Unit that the suspect held no valid firearm license.
Over an hour later, at around 8:50 a.m., Sagay City police implemented a search warrant in Purok Daisy, Barangay Puey.
Officers arrested alias ‘Boy,’ a 79-year-old man reportedly involved in a previous shooting incident, for which a criminal case had already been filed.
Seized during the Sagay operation were a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine loaded with five live rounds of ammunition, and an inside holster.
Verification also confirmed that the suspect was not a licensed firearm holder.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*
