Two reelectionists mayors, who are running under PDP-Laban (Cusi faction) in the 3rd district of Negros Occidental, are not resigning yet in supporting the call for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president in next year’s elections.

This also developed as Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is now the PDP-Laban (Cusi faction) presidential standard bearer in the 2022 elections, after he filed yesterday his certificate of candidacy for president.

As a Saraviahanon, we will go for Sara, said Mayor Marvin Malacon, who led the Asenso Tumandok team in the filing of their respective CoCs at the EB Magalona Comelec office, which was witnessed by Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, Abang Lingkod Rep. Stephen Joseph Paduano, and Board Member Andrew Montelibano.

Rep. Benitez is also a member of PDP-Laban Cusi faction, with his elder brother, Alfredo, as the provincial chairman.

The Asenso Tumandok of EB Magalona is composed also of Vice Mayor Eric Matulac and eight incumbent councilors.

Another PDP-Laban (Cusi wing) member, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, disclosed on Thursday that he is committed to support Sara Duterte-Carpio, as he hopes that she will run for president.

Malacon and Golez were among more than a dozen of mayors in Negros Occidental mayors, who earlier declared support to Duterte-Carpio

As a member of the League of Cities of the Philippines board of directors, Golez said that Mayor Sara extended so much help and assistance to the city of Silay. So, he stressed, there is no reason not to help her.

I am not doing this for myself, I am doing this for the whole Silaynons, he added.

If she will not run, then I will decide again, Golez, who is seeking for his third term as the local chief executive of Silay City, said.*
