Two suspected members of the New People’s Army who are facing murder charges are now locked up, following their arrests on April 7 in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed during the joint operations of the Himamaylan City Police Station and 94IB were Jayson John Gazon, 30, and Kenneth Nabong, 31, both members of the Sentro De Grabidad Platoon of Central Negros (Front) 2.

Gazon, a resident of Purok 2, Brgy. San Antonio, Himamaylan City, and Nabong, of Sitio Uwakan, Brgy. Buenavista, also of Himamaylan City, serve as couriers of CN2, according to Lt. Col. Van Donald Almonte, 94IB commander.

Almonte lauded the timely information of Himamaylan City residents that led to the arrest of two rebel fugitives.

The arrest of two rebels came almost a week after the death of Elbert Quillano, deputy secretary of CN2, and his wife, Jessa, following an encounter on April 2 in Brgy. Buenavista, also in Himamaylan City.

Almonte said that the security cluster of Himamaylan City Task Force in ending Local Communist Armed Conflict will not stop in hunting rebel remnants in the area.

The safest choice you can only make now is to surrender, he added.*
