The San Carlos City government, through its Cooperatives Livelihood and Development Office (CLDO) and the Information Technology and Computer Services Office (ITCSO), launched two Tech4Ed centers on July 22 in barangays Rizal and Punao.
Councilors Victoriana Cabili, Armando Laguda Jr., Benito Gustilo Jr. and Barangay Punao Captain Sofronio Senador led the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
The centers at Sitio Caticlan, Brgy. Rizal and Punao are the 15th and 16th centers, respectively, which offer Digital Literacy Courses such as Basic Computer Operation and Concept Training including Photoshop and Autocad training, Learning English Application for Pinoys, as well as help people process documents for PSA, NBI and PRC license.
Representatives of the Department of Communications and Technology (DICT) Western Visayas also turned-over equipment for the Tech4Ed center in Barangay San Juan including ICT Software, three laptops, closed-circuit television (CCTV) and a router during the launching in Brgy. Punao.
On behalf of Mayor Renato Gustilo, City Administrator Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr. thanked the CLDO and the ITCSO for the new centers that will help the people in the community, highlighting the importance adapting and learning the technologies that will soon open doors of opportunities.
Felix Cawit Jr., project-in-charge of Tech4Ed program, said the initiative was strengthened through the support of the local government unit as well as partners that help make it possible.
Senador also thanked the local government for their efforts in establishing said center in his area, bringing computer education to his locality.
Also present during the launching were Punong Barangays David Logarta of Brgy. Rizal, Simplicio Caballero of Brgy. San Juan, and Joseph Binghay, Information Technology officer, and staff of the CLDO and the DICT.*
