Typhoon Fabian has maintained its strength, and parts of Luzon will continue to experience monsoon rains, the weather bureau said yesterday.
“Fabian” packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 185 kph. It was last tracked 655 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon enhanced by “Fabian” and weather disturbance “Cempaka” that is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over parts of Luzon.
Monsoon rains will continue to prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the northern portion of Palawan, including Calamian and Kalayaan Islands.
No tropical cyclone wind signal is currently in effect.
Pagasa said sea travel is risky for small seacraft, and mariners without the proper experience are advised to immediately seek safe harbor.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country will have rain showers or thunderstorms, still due to the southwest monsoon.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over Mindanao.*PNA
