A search warrant operation conducted on February 24, in Barangay Bato, Hinigaran, resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old employee of the Hinigaran Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).
The individual, identified by the alias ‘Panoy,’ was taken into custody by the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station and supporting units, for violation of Republic Act 10591, following a court-issued warrant served at his residence in Sitio Ma-asin.
During the search, authorities recovered a chrome-finished Colt MK IV Series 80 caliber .45 pistol, a magazine assembly, and three rounds of ammunition.
The operation was initiated after reports alleged that the government employee had brandished a firearm and issued threats.
Subsequent verification by law enforcement confirmed that the subject was not a licensed firearm holder, leading to the application and issuance of the search warrant.
As an employee of a municipal disaster response office, the suspect is now under the custody of the Hinigaran MPS pending appropriate legal and administrative disposition.*
