The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported another weak ash emission on Sunday morning from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano.
According to PHIVOLCS, grayish plumes were reported rising about 500 meters above the crater, before drifting southwest.
Prior to its ash emission at 8:23 a.m. on Sunday, PHIVOLCS logged 65 volcanic quakes at the Kanlaon Volcano.
Despite continuing restiveness, it reminded the public that Alert Level 2 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, meaning the volcano is still under a moderate level of unrest.
Under the alert status, PHIVOLCS said there is a possibility of sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions, and entry into the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited due to the risk of explosive activity.
Residents near the volcano and local government units were urged to remain vigilant.
On September 10, a weak ash emission was recorded at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano, producing grayish plumes that rose about 600 meters above the crater, PHIVOLCS records showed.*
