UST choir wins in Taipei competition

The UST Coro Tomasino, under the baton of conductor Inst. Mark Raeniel Agpasa, won second prize in Grand Prix Finals of the Taipei International Choral Competition, held at the National Concert Hall of Taiwan last August 1, a post on the UST Coro Tomasino Facebook page said.

Coro Tomasino is the official choir of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music.

The team also won two Gold Diplomas (for Mixed Choir and Ethnic/Traditional Music) and the Special Jury Prize – Promising Conductor Award for Agpasa.

One of the soprano members of the choral and the only Bacolodon in the present batch that competed was Carmeli Cordero, a second year student majoring in Music Theatre at the UST Conservatory of Music. She is a graduate of the University of St. La Salle Bacolod.

Carmeli is the eldest daughter of Dr. Rone Cordero and Dr. Girlie Ramos-Cordero.*
