Aurelio “Bodie” Valderrama Jr. was elected yesterday as the national president of the Confederation of Sugarcane Farmers (Confed) for Crop Year 2022-2024 (Sept. 1, 2022 – Aug. 31, 2024).
According to the press release, Valderrama, who was elected as president of Confed Negros-Panay last Monday, is the president of the Vicmico Planters’ Association Inc. (VICMICO). He also had a short stint as planters’ representative to the Board of the Sugar Regulatory Administration.
Pablo Lorenzo III of the Associated Bukidnon Sugarcane Planters Inc. was elected vice-president.
The other officers, who will also serve a two-year term, are: treasurer – Nicolas Ledesma Jr. of First Farmers Association Inc. (FFAI); assistant treasurer – Preciosa Maturan of Tolong Multi-Purpose Cooperative; secretary – Alfonso Gamboa of Associated Planters of Silay-Saravia, Inc. (APSSI); and assistant secretary – Ma. Regina Bautista-Martin of Asociacion de Hacenderos de Silay-Saravia Inc. (AHSSI).
The other elected members of the Confed National Board of Directors are: Lucio Ma. Barcelona Jr. (Independent Sagay-Escalante Planters Inc. – MPC); Jose Ma. Lopez (Nabinkalan Planters Association Inc); Mikel Tirso Teves (Negros Oriental Planters Association Inc.); Alfredo Villarosa (C-Prime Corporation); Atty. Sabino Briones (Caceres Agricultural Producers Association Inc.);
Raul Delfin Divinagracia (Sugar Planters Agriculture Cooperative); Loreto Mabborang (NORPHIL Farmers MPC); Fordson Macarubbo (Northern Philippines Planters Association Inc.); Antonio Ferdinand Marañon (United Sugar Planters of Davao MPC); Ma. Luz Miranda (Pampanga Agro Sugar Planters Association Inc.);
