Valentine’s Day fire hits 15 houses

Eight houses were destroyed while seven were damaged by a fire that broke out at Manalo Street, Barangay 17, Bacolod City on Valentine’s Day, Friday.

The Bacolod City Fire started at about 8:18 p.m. and was declared under control at 8:56. It destroyed about P281,750 worth of properties.

Dr. Richelle Villaprado, head of the city’s Department of Social Services and Development, said they extended food assistance to the fire victims and have staff to conduct validation and monitor the situation of the evacuees, as well as operate a mobile kitchen.

They are also conducting ongoing interviews for financial assistance. Those whose houses were destroyed will be receiving P15,000, while those whose houses were damaged will be receiving P10,000. Renters will also receive P5,000 to P7,000, based on the result of their assessment.*
