The municipality of Valladolid in Negros Occidental celebrated its 175th annual town fiesta and 19th Pasundayag Festival which was highlighted by the festival street and arena competition of seven competing groups on February 28.
This year’s fiesta theme was “Pagpasundayag sang Kultura, Pagpadayaw sang Pangabuhi, Pagtililipon sang Dolidnon.”
Tribu Alidobay, composed of clustered Barangays Alijis, Doldol and Bayabas was declared as this year’s grand champion during the street and arena dance competition.
It also took home minor awards including Best in Festival Queen, Best in Concept, Best in Choreography, Best in Choreographer, Best in Street Dancing, and Best in Arena Performance.
Tribu Baguin-ay, composed of clustered Barangays Batuan, Guintorilan and Ayungon was first runner-up.
Tribu Poblaloma, composed of clustered Barangays Poblacion and Paloma was second runner-up.
Tribu Pacaron received the Best in Costume as a minor award.



The festival concept is about the local traditions in co-existence with the livelihood of the people of Valladolid, specifically on fishing and farming, or combination of both. This festival also honors the town’s patroness, the Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Valladolid Mayor Ricardo Presbitero Jr., in his message during the highlight of the festivities, thanked all the barangays that participated during the street dance competition and also in the successful staging of its annual Pasundayag Festival this year.*
