The city government of Victorias City in Negros Occidental received an award during the BAGANI Local Governance Awards 2024, which was spearheaded by Department of Interior and Local Government, October 11.
Victorias City was recognized for its outstanding efforts in localizing the DILG Negros Occidental Local Governance Quizzard, dubbed “Pa Quiz Bee sa SP.”
Its inclusion as a potential passer of the prestigious 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Awards by the Regional Assessment Team further underscores its commitment to excellent public service and governance, a statement from the City government said.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, president of the Negros Association of Chief Executives was also recognized for his relentless support to DILG Negros Occidental and its Local Governance Resource Center.
His leadership and dedication played a vital role in the success of the 33rd Local Government Code Month Celebration, the statement further said.
The plaque of recognition was presented by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, DILG VI Regional Director Lailyn Ortiz, and Assistant Regional Director Teodora Sumagaysay, and Liga ng mga Barangay Provincial President, Board Member Richard Julius Sablan, to Vice Mayor Abelardo Bantug III, City Planning and Development Officer Evangeline Alo, and DILG Officer CLGOO Michelle Arriola.
Victorias City emerged victorious in the 3rd Local Governance Quizzard, in celebration of the 33rd Local Government Code Month and Anniversary at Robinson’s Place Bacolod, October 9.
Organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Negros Occidental, the event tested participants’ knowledge on the Local Government Code, local legislation, and various DILG programs and projects.
Victorias City’s Barangay Category team, composed of Punong Barangay Andrie Delgado of Barangay XIX-A, Punong Barangay Melba Silava of Barangay XVIII-A, and Sangguniang Barangay Member Rolando Germino of Barangay XIII, clinched the championship.
The city also secured the 1st Runner-Up position in the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Category, represented by Myrtle Mae Lamboso, Katrina Janine Bauya of Negros Occidental Drug Rehabilitation Foundation, and Ann Rose Gicana of Kaayong Lawas Foundation.
Additionally, the City/Municipal Category team, led by Councilor Dino Jose Maria Acuña, CSWDO Head Joy Reunir, and City Treasurer Maria Rosielyn Gustilo, earned the 2nd Runner-Up title.
Participants were awarded medals and cash prizes for their outstanding performances.*
