Three local hog raisers in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, who were gravely affected by the recent surge of African Swine Fever disease, have received P174,000 in financial assistance from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.
In a statement issued by the City Public Information Office, the PCIC insured 313 hog raisers in Victorias City, with a P14.8 million worth of coverage.
As of July this year, the City Veterinarian Office has already processed 18 insurance claims under the program.
Victorias City Swine Farmers are the first recipients of the PCIC Insurance Grants for ASF Related cases in Negros Occidental.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, Charlon Melendrez of PCIC, and City Veterinarian John Michael Cabuguason distributed the cash aid on August 11 in Victorias City.
The PCIC, an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture, provides farmers with insurance protection against crop losses caused by natural disasters, plant diseases, and pest infestations.*
