Twenty-two-year-old Shanelyn Bayson, of Brgy. 13, Victorias City, is representing Negros Occidental in the Ms. Universe Philippines beauty pageant on April 30 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Shanelyn was the first runner-up in the Kadalag-an Queen 2019, a beauty pageant held during Victorias City’s Kadalag-an Festival, the annual charter anniversary celebrated every March.
She is among the 32 candidates from all over the country vying for the Ms. Universe Philippines crown.
The winner will succeed current title-holder Beatrice Luigi Gomez and represent the country in the 71st Miss Universe pageant.
Shanelyn recently met with mayoralty candidate Javi Benitez, who now leads Victoriahanons in rooting for her in the upcoming pageant, a statement from his camp said.
Shanelyn is a senior student of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Talisay City, taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Majoring in English.
In an online interview, Shanelyn revealed that she had always dreamed of joining beauty contests.
She also represented her secondary and tertiary schools in local and regional pageants in Western Visayas.*
