The Victorias City Sangguniang Panlungsod set a record of having approved the most ordinances and resolutions, in more than two years, under the stewardship of Vice Mayor Abelardo “JunB” Bantug, according to Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez.

Benitez described Bantug as an outstanding leader in the legislative branch, and a reliable partner in supporting the programs and services they have worked hard to put in place.

He added that the leadership of Bantug has been crucial in getting things done.

Since the start of their as mayor and vice mayor of Victorias City in 2022, respectively, Benitez reported that the City Council approved 153 ordinances, which surpassed the 148 ordinances passed in the previous 15 years.

Within a period of  two years and two months, he also noted that the Sangguniang Panlungsod has set a record for the number of resolutions approved – which was 1,365 – the highest ever, surpassing the previous record of 923 from 2010-2013.

However, it is not just about the numbers. These are policies that make a real difference in the lives of our people and align with our 6-point agenda, helping to make Victorias a better place to live, work, and play, Benitez added.

“I am confident that with Vice Mayor JunB at the helm, our city will keep growing and moving forward,” the mayor also said.

On September 20, Benitez, who will run for congressman of the 3rd district of Negros Occidental in the 2025 midterm elections, officially endorsed Bantug as his candidate for mayor of Victorias City.*
