An alleged “vigilante group” has claimed responsibility for the brutal killing of an ambush survivor last year, whose cadaver was found yesterday at Purok Riverside, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City.
The victim identified by the police as Mark Anthony Cubos, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in the head.
PMaj. Richard Fajarito, Police Station 3 commander, yesterday said that Cubos was found hogtied with a handcuff on both of his arms and feet.
Aside from 26 spent shells of M16 rifle, the police also recovered a placard with a message “Sigeha pa. Sigeha niyo pa.. interest pa lang ni sa sini nga bulan. El vigilante drug lord warriors.“
In September last year, the vehicle driven by Cubos was fired upon in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, but he survived the attempt on his life.
Fajarito raised the possibility that the brutal killing of Cubos may have been related to illegal drugs.
He also noted a similarity in the pattern of killing of Cubos and Glenn Paul Castillo, who was beheaded, with a similar statement written in a placard that was found at the crime scene, in Brgy. 38, Bacolod City.
The head of Castillo was left behind in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City. Cubos reportedly surrendered during the Oplan Tokhang campaign of the Bacolod City Police Office in previous years.*
