Virus cases hit 700 in Neg. Occ. – DOH

Negros Occidental’s COVID-19 cases hit 700 yesterday with 23 new cases, keeping it the topnotcher in Western Visayas, a Department of Health 6 report said.

Bacolod City was in fourth place with 12 new COVID-19 positive cases for a total of 396 patients, with 287 active and 100 recovered.

Bacolod City’s deaths also hit nine with one new fatality identified by the DOH as a 29-year-old male.

The new COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental are from Binalbagan – 3, Kabankalan – 3, Murcia – 2 , Silay – 2, San Carlos – 2, Himamaylan – 1, Cauayan – 1 , Pulupandan – 1 , La Castellana – 1 , Cadiz – 1, Talisay – 1 , Bago – 1, Valladolid – 1, Himamaylan – 1 and San Enrique – 1.

EB Magalona and Victorias City had three patients each who recovered from COVID-19, the DOH reported.

In Western Visayas the area with the second most number of COVID-19 cases was Iloilo province with 529, in third place was Iloilo City with 487, fifth Capiz with 91, sixth Guimaras with 48, seventh Antique with 32 and eight Aklan with 24.

Western Visayas has 2,307 COVID-19 cases, 1,203 active, 1,071 recovered and 33 deaths.

Of the dead, Bacolod City , Iloilo City and Iloilo province have 9 each, Negros Occidental – 3, Capiz – 2 and Aklan – 1, the DOH reported.

The DOH said 90.27 percent of those hit by COVID-19 in the region are asymptomatic.*
