The municipal health officer of Manapla town in Negros Occidental has tested positive for COVID-19, Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante said yesterday.
Forty persons, including 24 Manapla Rural Health Unit personnel, were quarantined and swabbed for COVID-19, he said.
The doctor’s office and his examination room had been locked down for disinfection, the mayor added.
Luckily the doctor’s office is in a separate building from the maternity, therapy and dental units that are located at another Rural Health Unit building, he added.
The doctor returns to Bacolod everyday and worships at a Protestant church in the city, Escalante said.
He is also a member of a bikers’ club.
The doctor felt ill last week and did not return for work and his test result released yesterday afternoon showed that he was COVID-19 positive, Escalante said.*
