In light of the recent volcanic activity of Mt. Kanlaon, VMA President Capt. Niño Elson Salabas, extended heartfelt sympathy and aid to the affected communities in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, a press release from VMA said.
Through the collaborative efforts of the VMA faculty, staff, students, and KAPAWA volunteers, the institution successfully delivered donations and assistance to over 1,000 evacuees across three evacuation centers: La Carlota South Elementary School, La Carlota North Elementary School, and the La Carlota Gym on December 17.
Salabas expressed his deep gratitude to La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon, who promptly mobilized his staff to accommodate the VMA team, led by executive vice president Dr. Remedios Johanna Vargas. “We are grateful for the strong partnership with Mayor Jalandoon and the support of the La Carlota City community. “Mayor, thank you for allowing us to bring hope and relief to those in need,” he said.
The donations from the VMA community and its supporters brought not only essential supplies but also smiles and hope to the evacuees. Salabas emphasized, “This is where your donations go — to bring light and hope to our affected brothers and sisters. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference.”
