VMA vice president for Academic Affairs, Remedios Johanna Vargas, recently organized a thanksgiving dinner at Sugarland Hotel, Bacolod City to recognize academic and non-academic scholars who graduated with the highest honors, a press release from VMA said.
The event was attended by the graduates, their advisers, and heads of offices. In celebration of their upcoming graduation day, Vargas warmly congratulated all the scholars by treating them to a sumptuous meal. It was a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for their hard work and dedication in the course of their studies.
During the affair, Vargas gave the scholars an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences at VMA. She was delighted to hear their testimonies and acknowledged their favorable feedback. “My heart is full as the students shared their thoughts of being a VMAer and how VMA created a big impact in their lives,” Vargas remarked.
Concluding the dinner, Vargas reminded the scholars, to “Always keep in mind that at VMA, you are not only a scholar, but a member of our family. We will continue to support you in your future pursuits, and we are excited to see the wonderful things you will accomplish.”
SALUTES BANWAHANON AWARDEES
Meanwhile, VMA Global College and Training Centers commended the recipients of the Ang Banwahanon Award, who were acknowledged by the City of Bacolod in celebration of its 85th Charter Anniversary. Awarded were businessmen Willy Au, Ian Manuel Lo, and Benjamin Lopue Jr., and singer Ruby “Token” Lizares, for their excellent and altruistic service, as well as their good moral character and reputation for integrity.
Elizabeth Orola-Salabas, VMA president who was also recognized as the only Ang Banwahanon Awardee in 2015 for her work in Maritime Education and Environmental Protection. She was voted as the Outstanding Woman of the Year at that time, according to a press release.
During the celebration, Salabas took the time to welcome and congratulate her fellow recipients, remarking that their achievements serve as an inspiration to Bacoleños to continue doing their best for the welfare of the community and to be role models worthy of emulation.
She also expressed her gratitude to Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez, for providing the opportunity to gather and reminisce about their past successes.*
