VP Duterte visits typhoon-stricken areas

Vice President Sara Duterte visited residents affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in the provinces of Negros Occidental and Cebu yesterday, to distribute rice assistance and other necessities.

In Negros Occidental, the Vice President first visited Himamaylan City yesterday to distribute rice assistance to about 1,200 residents affected by Typhoon Tino where she was joined by Himamaylan Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson at the Himamaylan National High School. She also pledged to provide those present prepaid load, as well as Jollibee meals as they waited until noon for her arrival.

Duterte then proceeded to the Municipality of Binalbagan to distribute 200 rice boxes (each containing 5 kilos rice) plus 100 packs of 5 kilos rice, and 50 water containers. She also pledged to provide G.I. sheets to about 400 internally displaced persons (IDPs) temporarily evacuated at the Mayor Pedro Yulo Sports and Cultural Center in the presence of Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda, Councilor Jerry “Bokbok” Yulo and other Sangguniang Bayan members.

She also provided the typhoon victims of La Carlota City 400 rice boxes plus 200 packs of 5 kilos rice, and 100 water containers. La Castellana received 300 rice boxes plus 200 packs of 5 kilos rice, and 100 water containers.

IDPs of Moises Padilla were also provided 269 rice boxes plus 100 packs of 5 kilos rice; while those in Bago City received 400 packs of 5 kilos rice and 50 water containers.

The Vice President was scheduled to visit Canlaon City yesterday to provide 500 rice boxes, 100 water containers, and 200 packs of 5 kilos rice to the IDPs but was advised by her staff that the road not be passable at this time.
The assistance may be delivered by the Negros Occidental Satellite Office of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) today.

She also delivered a total of 14 funeral wreaths yesterday – five in Bago City, seven in Canlaon City, four in La Carlota City, and two in La Castellana.

Meanwhile, Duterte also visited three affected barangays in Bacolod City yesterday to distribute assistance.

She distributed 150 packs of 5 kilos rice in Brgy Montevista, 298 rice boxes in Brgy. Vista Alegre, and 205 packs of 5 kilos rice, rice boxes containing 5 kilos rice, and six canned goods in Brgy. Punta Taytay.*
