BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo will return to Negros Occidental for a final swing to court more voters from the sixth vote-rich province of the country, days before the May 9 elections.

Former Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, chairperson of the Robredo People’s Council, yesterday said that Robredo, who expressed her desire to return to the province, may arrive in the first week of May.

“It’s going to be a day trip, including cities of Bacolod and Iloilo, with most likely one event per area,” Coscolluela added.

During her campaign rally on March 11 at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City, the Leni-Kiko tandem gathered a crowd of about 70,000, as estimated by its organizers.

Coscolluela raised the possibility that the people’s rally of Leni will be held in areas of the province, where the vice-president has not yet visited, such as cities of Cadiz, Silay, or Bago. But Coscolluela said he is recommending against putting up a big show or production, which it is too long and expensive.

We prefer a simple program which connect directly to supporters, he added.

It will be a people’s proclamation rally, Coscolluela stressed.

He said that the Diocese of Bacolod Lay Organizations, who expressed their support to the presidential bid of Robredo and that of Pangilinan for the vice-president position, and all their allies, partners and supporters, will be part of the people’s proclamation.*
