The Vallacar Transit Incorporated (VTI), which supervises all Ceres Liner bus companies in southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, is offering a 10 percent discount to all its passengers, starting from Good Friday to Eastern Sunday.
In a statement, the VTI management said the fare discount is in line with the call of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for Bayanihan in this Holy Week, amidst uncertainties taking place in the Middle East which led to the shortage of fuel supply.
Stressing that one trait that stands out amongst Filipinos is the spirit of Bayanihan, VTI president Leo Rey Yanson said the fare discount is one way of supporting the government and program of President Marcos of ensuring that fellow Filipinos spend a meaningful Holy Week with their loved ones.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson admitted that the local tourism industry has been affected by the continuing increase in prices of petroleum products, especially in Don Salvador Benedicto, which is tagged as the summer capital of the Negros Occidental, where he noticed declining numbers of motorcycles and private vehicles along its highway.
