The Bacolod City Police Office will soon have a new police chief, as BCPO director, PCol. Thomas Joseph Martir, is retiring from the police service by May.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez yesterday said that he already received an initial list of police officials who applied for the position of BCPO director.

As a standard police procedure for the selection of the new BCPO chief, the list of nominees will be submitted by the Police Regional Office 6 to Benitez.

Benitez said he is looking for someone who can address crimes incidents in Bacolod City, especially the unsolved cases.

Martir will turn 56 two months from now, which is a mandatory age retirement for members of the PNP, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, as well as the Armed Forces of the Philippines.*
