Police arrested a 76-year-old carpenter listed as the Negros Island Region’s fifth most wanted fugitive during a manhunt operation in Barangay Old Sagay, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, June 2.
The suspect, identified by the alias ‘Moden,’ faces two counts of statutory rape with no bail recommended.
According to the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR), Moden is an acquaintance of the minor victim’s grandfather.
Authorities alleged that the suspect sexually abused the victim on multiple occasions and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the abuse.
The operation was conducted by the Sagay City Component Police Station and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in Purok Santan 2.
Police said Moden remains under the custody of the Sagay CPS for booking and documentation before being turned over to the issuing court.*
