Water Watch also condemns PrimeWater

Water Watch Advocates – Bacolod City joined the nationwide condemnation of PrimeWater’s failure to deliver clean, sufficient and affordable water services to the Filipino people.

“We, the consumers of Bacolod City, spearheaded by Water Watch Advocates, are compelled to express our utmost frustration and disappointment against Villar’s Baciwa PrimeWater egregious failure to deliver clean, affordable, and reliable water services to our community,” Water Watch Advocates convenor Wennie Sancho said in a statement.

“The persistent problems plaguing our water supply, including turbid water, frequent interruptions, and exorbitant rates, are a clear testament to the ineptitude and neglect of Villar’s Baciwa PrimeWater. Despite numerous complaints and pleas for action, the company has shown a callous disregard for the welfare of its customers, prioritizing profits over people despite the Villar family’s appeal to the Filipino voters for the candidacy of Rep. Camille Villar,” he said.

Sancho said they condemn PrimeWater’s failure to provide clean and safe drinking water, compromising the health and well-being of our families and communities; inadequate infrastructure and maintenance, leading to frequent disruptions and water losses; and exorbitant water rates, which burden our households and businesses; while the company reaps profits without delivering quality services.

“We demand that the government take immediate action to address these grievances and hold PrimeWater accountable for its failures,” Sancho said adding that they are call for a thorough investigation into the company’s operations and practices; take immediate measures to improve water quality, infrastructure, and service reliability; and review the Joint Venture Agreement to ensure that it prioritizes the interests of the people, not just the profits of the company.

“We, the consumers of Bacolod City, will not be silenced. We will not be ignored. We will fight for our right to clean, affordable, and reliable water services. We urge our fellow citizens to join us in this struggle, to stand with us against BACIWA PrimeWater’s neglect and abuse,” he said.

This concern of Bacolodnons is shared by Villar’s PrimeWater concessionaires around the country, in the Provinces of Camarines Norte, Bulacan,  Laguna, Ilocos Norte, Zambales and Caloocan City among others, Sancho said.*
