Dengue cases in Negros have reached 3,000 with 14 fatalities, as of July 30, according to a report of the Department of Health- Western Visayas released on August 5.
Of the 597 newly-reported dengue cases in Western Visayas from July 24 to 30, Negros Occidental logged 193 cases, Iloilo province -162, Antique – 80, Iloilo City – 68, Bacolod City – 35, Capiz – 29, Aklan – 16 and 14 in Guimaras.
Deaths related to dengue in Region 6 rose further to 50.
Highly-urbanized Bacolod City has now 496 total cases with eight deaths for the period covering January to July 30 this year.
Total dengue cases in the region were reported by DOH-WV at 8,647, an increase of 543 percent compared to 1,345 last year.
Forty percent of the victims have ages ranging from one to 10 years old.*
