• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Philippine National Police reported a 76.47 percent reduction in eight focus crimes from December 16 to 25 in Western Visayas, attributing it to their intensified crime prevention and suppression effort and cooperation of communities.

The eight focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping and motorcycle theft.

In a report, the Police Regional Office 6 logged 24 incidents this year, compared to 102 incidents in the same period of 2023, with a decrease of 78 incidents, or 76.47 percent.

Wanky said the security plan crafted in relation to the intensified police operation to ensure the safety and security of the people of Western Visayas during the Yuletide and New year’s celebration will be in effect until January next year.*
