Negros Occidental topped the list of contributors in the occurrence of 8 Focus Crimes, with 700 crime incidents in 2022, the report added.

The 8 Focus Crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, car napping of motor vehicle and motorcycle.

Iloilo province followed Negros Occidental in having the most number of perpetrated 8 Focus Crimes, with 624, Capiz with 389, Iloilo City – 382, Bacolod City – 257, Aklan – 209, Antique – 151 and Guimaras having the lowest crime incidents recorded at 71.

However, for 11 consecutive months of 2022, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, under the leadership of PCol. Leo Pamittan, was consistently the top performer among provincial and city police offices in Western Visayas, according to NOCPPO.

PMaj. Mary Grace Borio, regional police spokesperson, attributed the reduction of crimes to the regular conduct of Enhanced Managing Police Operations, active support of the different local government units, barangay officials, force multipliers and PNP advocacy support groups.*
