WV RJSCC activated

Aimed at ensuring the secured, accurate, and free exercise of the people’s right to suffrage, in line with the October 30 synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the Regional Joint  Security Control Council (RJSCC) 6 was activated yesterday at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.

The RJSCC is composed of the Commission on Elections, Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, Police Regional Office 6, and the Coast Guard District Western Visayas, and its first coordinating conference was presided by Comelec regional director Atty. Dennis Ausan.

It follows the activation of Provincial Joint Security Control Council in Negros Occidental, which is also up for duplication in the various towns and cities of the province.

In a statement, the Police Regional Office 6 vowed to exert all efforts and resources to ensure a peaceful and credible elections in Western Visayas.

“We will strictly implement all the guidelines set by COMELEC and will intensify all our police operations and anti-criminality campaign to deter lawless elements from spreading threat, fear and chaos during the whole election period,” said PBrig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, regional police director of Western Visayas.

The election period starts August 28, when candidates may file their certificates of candidacy until September 2.

Provincial Comelec supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria said that the enforcement of gun ban will start Aug. 28.*
