Dolly Yasa of The Daily Guardian swept all individual honors in the women’s category while Arman Toga of the Negros Daily Bulletin had the highest single and double scores in the men’s event to lead the winners in the 2024 Negros Press Club Fellowship Games Saturday at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex.
The Green Team, captained by Henceboy Cestina with Lourd John Diaz and Rey Siason as managers, scored 810 points after two games to bag the overall championship.
Yasa of the Orange Team registered the highest pinning score at 77, the highest single game at 88, and tallied 165 after two games to reign the women’s division.
Representing the Green Team, Toga scored 102 in one single game and was on a roll in the second game to dominate the men’s event, but yielded the highest pinning award to former NPC president Boy Ciocon, who toppled 87 pins.
Also with the champion Green Team are Roger Beltran, Merlinda Pedrosa, Aladdin Salas, Robert Cabalfin, Marcolin Cabawatan, Babes Gantalao, and Luisito Berjit.
The Yellow Team of Nona Magbanua and Nida Buenafe, anchored by Mark Salanga, settled for the first runner-up honors with 766 points, while the Orange Team of Yasa and Yves Montecillo secured the second runner-up award with 729, and the Red Team of Mae Singuay and Nanette Guadalquiver picked up the third runner-up honors with 726 points.
The 2024 Negros Press Club Fellowship Games was initiated in partnership with Megaworld Corporation.
At the opening rites, Harold Geronimo, Senior Vice President and Head of Public Relations and Media Affairs of Megaworld, cited the role of the media in the economic growth of Bacolod City and pledged to support the activities of the Negros Press Club.
Also at the event was Bacolod City Rep. Greg Gasataya, who as a former radio broadcaster, said that the media will always be close to his heart.*
