The construction of “arterial roads”, especially in the hinterlands of the 5th district of Negros Occidental, will be given attention by Representative-elect Emilio “Dino” Yulo.

Yulo said “roads are very important in the development and progress, where peace and order will follow.”

Pushing also for the restoration of Negros Island Region, Yulo said this will also benefit the 5th and 6th districts of Negros Occidental, where towns and cities connect to the different local government units in Negros Oriental.

Five municipalities in the 5th district of Negros Occidental directly straddle six LGUs of Negros Oriental, according to Yulo

It is important for us at this particular time to open up these portals as this will bring more developments, he said.

Sporadic gunbattles between government security forces and the New People’s Army have ensued in the past several months, especially in Moises Padilla, Isabela and Candoni, which are located in the 5th district of Negros Occidental, and Guihulngan City, Sibulan, Santa Catalina in Negros Oriental.

During the election campaign period, Yulo said he noted that there are still some areas, especially in the hinterlands, that have no access to better roads, especially in upper barangays of Isabela and Moises Padilla, which are yet to be concreted.

“I would want more arterial roads in the mountainous areas,” he added.

We have more than enough roads in the highway. We should be starting spreading it out towards the mountains, since we are agricultural-based economy,” Yulo further said.*
