BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

All the quarantine facilities of Negros Occidental are now empty of COVID-19 positive patients as cases continue to decline in the past several weeks, Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz reported yesterday.

At the same time, the number of COVID-19 patients being treated at the Cadiz District Hospital is now down to 20, of which 13 are confirmed cases, while the seven remaining are suspected cases, Diaz said.

Those left behind at the quarantine facilities are a few APORs Authorized Person Outside Residences who requested self-isolation upon arrival at the province, he added.

The three provincial government quarantine facilities are located in EB Magalona, cities of Silay and Cadiz, as well as the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia, which is now open to the public.

The COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental further dropped to 29 as of December 12, compared from its peak of 4,400 in October this year.

Diaz said the occupancy rate of Cadiz District Hospital for COVID-19 positive patients is now 21.51 percent.

The two other COVID-19 hospitals, Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City and Valladolid District Hospitals are now catering to non-COVID-19 patients.

It’s looking good for everyone, Diaz said. He, however, stressed the need for Negrenses to keep on observing the mandated minimum health protocols.*
