Senate majority floor leader Juan Miguel Zubiri ruled out the possibility of his seeking a higher elective position in the May 2022 synchronized elections.
Zubiri announced in a press conference Saturday in Bacolod City that he wants to seek reelection.
“You’re just going to hit yourself in the head with a hammer,” said Zubiri, in reply to a question if he will run for vice president or president in the 2022 elections.
He said he wants to continue his work in the Senate to ensure that Negrenses and those in the Visayas and Mindanao will have projects.
“I am advocacy driven, not ambition driven,” Zubiri said, noting also that he was included in the top five senatorial candidates for the 2022 elections. “I want to maintain it and I have no plans whatsoever for a higher office,” he added.*
